Besana!
This is end point of our opening and closing parades. This one shows the main band rehearsing their marching. On the left, you can see the white coloured "sheltered" area, and that is their open-air concert hall. That is where we'll perform if we are to play in Besana. There are other places in the area that we will be performing. Will try and get some more videos or pics or whatever. The big building in front is the church.
Another video about the marching band segment. I know what our double reeds players can do already! Haha.. MASCOT! Wauahah.. Nah just kidding.. Maybe take the banner. LOL.
Anyway, I found out that we have quite a large number of bands going this year. They are from Colombia, Lithuania, Holland, Portugal, Hungary and Belgium. This is besides the usual Italian bands that will be there.

A short update before I rush off for work
Hi everyone. Currently in Stuttgart and staying here for the next 3.5 weeks.
Work's great. I'm working at a factory called Pilz that manufactures motherboard and other electrical components for automation. A really light and easy job, no heavy lifting here and there. Attire is the company polo shirt and jeans whatever. Only thing is that I have to keep wearing an armband that's connected to earth to ensure that I'm constantly grounded and no static electricity built up on my body can destroy the miniscule electrical components. So far I'm building curcuit boards and running tests on them. Next week I'll be learning welding, so that's a really useful skill later on for engineering.
My supervisor and colleagues are really nice people as well, teaching me lots of things and constantly praising me until I feel quite paiseh. Thank goodness so far that no-one has expressed 'Sino' phobia - That the Chink is here as a spy to steal technology!
Gabriel's family has been great as well to let me stay at their place. Looking forward to tomorrow, travelling up to Frankfurt again to meet bro-in-law...
Ok guys, just a post to show I'm alive and well! Photos coming up hopefully!

Hey all, on behalf of the Mus'Art Wind Orchestra, I would like to promote the upcoming concert that we will be presenting! Coincidentally, I forgot the title of the concert... oops... But I remember the repertoire! So here it is:
1st Half
Alvamar Oveture
An English Sea Song Suite
To The Summit!
Imperatrix
The Golden Circle
Ross Roy
2nd Half
Space Battleship Yamato
Danceries
West Side Story
Little Mermaid Medley
During the 1st half, we'll present the SYF choice pieces for a few secondary school bands in our area, and the key players of the band will be playing amongst us! Much like a comworks thingy. The 2nd half will be purely our own repertoire, and I guarantee you the 2nd half pieces are all nice :D
Concert is on 3rd Febuary, 7:30pm at the Victoria Concert Hall. Circle seat tickets are available (only circle because the kids have all the stall seat tickets) through me, $12 each. Please come! See some of the school kids in action! Haha.
Have fun and see you guys at band :D

Merry Wives of Windsor - Otto Nicolai
Poema Alpestre - Franco Cesarini (Singapore Premiere)
Soaring Over the Ridges: The impression of the North Alps - Satoshi Yagisawa (Singapore Premiere)
Silver Screen - Paul Hart
Immer Keiner featuring our own solo clarinetist Mr Ian Lum
Poema Alpestre (Singapore Premiere):
For someone like Franco Cesarini, born in a land of which every horizon is dominated by the majestic Alps, mountains are in one's heart and soul throughout every moment of life. Therefore, the question as to why Cesarini chose to write a piece dedicated to mountains can have a thousand answers or none.Cesarini creates a world of sound that depicts a real world he has known first hand. This 20-minute creation transports the listener (and performer!) to a land of alpine beauty and terrific natural forces. The fog and mist give way to grandeur and vistas beyond compare that contain grazing cattle (listen for their passage indicated by large cow-bells), birds and other wildlife, and the fury of high-altitude blizzards. The snowstorm subsides into a divine state where the 'mountain-top experience' is revealed as the spirit soars to new heights. The true spirit of mountains is described in the words of Alan Hovhaness: "Mountains are symbolic meeting places between the material and the spiritual world." It is a sentiment with which the composer fully agrees, which also helps explain the titles of succeeding episodes of the composition. These alternate moments of reality, of matter, with those of the ethereal, the spirit. Certain subtitles also refer to Thomas Mann's classic novel, "The Magic Mountain".As in the book, the triumvirate of illness-love-death becomes the key to trying to understand the mystery of life.Another factor that compelled Cesarini to write this piece is the 50th anniversary of the death of Richard Strauss (1864-1949). For Cesarini, "Poema Alpestre" is a modest tribute to his memory. by Franco Cesarini
