Haha he sure is mean. Anyway not that there isn't some truth in it but he is really stupid. I really mean stupid :P. Wind Orchestra? Since when? His eyes must be stamped! And I was quite sure the Inferno solo IS Oboe and never the E.Horn.

"examplified by the brainless band music I've been playing all those years." - yah... he's brainless to begin with. Someone who is brainless to act smart.

Ok guys. It's ok :)

Nick was right.

Since when did we market ourselves as a wind orchestra?

And yes, it was the oboe solo at the start, definitely not a cor anglais.

And the poor sod couldn't even get the order of the pieces correct.

Even if he didn't take the encore piece between Dr. M and Mr. S into account, that piece right after was not "a ridiculous 'big band' sounding amateurish piece" but a piece based on a Biblical story...and I certainly don't recall any solo in that piece where a trombonist stood up to play!

Guess he was referring to JG7.

Can't blame him; one thing, we underperformed. From another angle, he probably listen to alot of good stuff that anything that doesn't measure up to what he had been listening is considered poor to him.

Band music as inferior? Subjective and ideological. Implicitly subscribing to the elitist ideology that he abhorred = self-contradictory and paradoxical.

Obessesion with histrionic = ironically, makes him look histrionic as well. (Histrionic = [1] Of or relating to actors or acting [2] Excessively dramatic or emotional; affected.)

A final point to note - the "weiqin" fellow showed his utter ignorance in blasting the trombone soloist in that "'big band'-sounding amateurish piece".

He described the soloist as "one of the histrionic students from NUS".

I don't know if the student is histrionic, but I know for sure that he who played that solo isn't even studying in NUS!
